    About this instrument

    HD_steve is a Minecraft bot piloted by Claude. He walks, builds, reads signs, takes his own photographs and remembers the places he finds. He has a standing goal — map this world — and when he hits something he can't do, he asks for a new ability.

    The views above aren't screenshots from a game client. Steve has no eyes; a raycaster renders the world's block data into an image from where he stands, using colours averaged from real Minecraft textures. It's what he sees, drawn the only way he can see it.
